Books to Bring in the New Year

Image
Starting the new year with books based on a theme that reflects the month, the books chosen for January, February and March are... January 'Winter' selection: THE WINTER SEA by Susanna Kearsley  History has all but forgotten...In the spring of 1708, an invading Jacobite fleet of French and Scottish soldiers nearly succeeded in landing the exiled James Stewart in Scotland to reclaim his crown. Now, Carrie McClelland hopes to turn that story into her next bestselling novel. Settling herself in the shadow of Slains Castle, she creates a heroine named for one of her own ancestors and starts to write. But when she discovers her novel is more fact than fiction, Carrie wonders if she might be dealing with ancestral memory, making her the only living person who knows the truth-the ultimate betrayal-that happened all those years ago, and that knowledge comes very close to destroying her. February 'Romance' selection: TWO BY TWO by Nicholas Sparks...

Returning to Reality

Does anyone have difficulty facing reality after being so captured by a book or series? I'm really trying to focus on my house cleaning and laundry but my mind can't stop. I still need to read book 4, but it involves another Selection and I'm almost scared to begin it for fear of a cliffhanger. I'm already holding on to a previous series cliffhanger and couldn't possibly handle another one, that's reader suicide. I am on the search for my next book. I will share as soon as I find the perfect next book. Oh and if anyone has read The Selection series and has read book 4, is it a cliffhanger? The Section series

I finished book one and I'm already on to book two. I loved the first book so much, I joined Audible's 1-month trial so I could listen to the story in my car while traveling for work. Its a story of first love that turns to heartache with a chance at a possible second love.  But just when feelings begin to surface for that second chance, the first love returns. Who will it be? We shall see in the next book The Elite

The Royals

Finished Broken Prince...and I can't believe I have to wait until Oct 17th to find out what happens next. Even though this book focuses on adolescents nearing adulthood, their stories are what suck you in.  Some of their stories are still a mystery. Slowly things are disclosed but not enough to have the full picture. The first two books definitely keep you on the edge and you're  wanting more...and you just can't put the darn books down. Plus, there is a story of first love between two people who have had to deal with some ugly realities of the harshness of life. As a reader you are desperately hoping for a happy-ever-after and you think you have it figured out, but yet again, there is another twist, or surprise that makes you think, holy shit, this is intense. I'm anxiously waiting for October 17th...so, on that day, if my whereabouts become unknown... it's because I have gone off to some secluded place to enter the alternate world of the Royals and it...

Simple Pleasures

Image
It's amazing how many places you can visit. And how easy it is to travel back and forth through time. It's exciting to get a taste of the many different careers that you more than likely would never have the chance to experience . Or become so engrossed that you become that character and follow their journey mind, body and soul. All of these things can be found in just a few pages of something so wonderous and simple as a book. Now tell me, what else can do this?

'everywhere and every way' by Jennifer Probst

My first HEA post. If you want a little love and romance with a sexy, at times, broody carpenter who has two brothers who  he's trying rebuild relationships with and who also drive him crazy while trying to make sense of a high-maintenance, demanding interior designer who rocks his foundation, this book is for you. Read as the sparks fly between these two. Will they give in to their attraction and 'build' on love or will they crumble and ignore their chances at an everlasting love? I'm half way through it and plan on finishing it today. I love the dynamics between these two. They try so hard to fight the chemistry. But who will make the first move? 'That' Book

Image
This is my first attempt blogging about one of my favorites things I love to do which is falling into a good book. There is nothing better than when you find ‘that’ book. That book where it captures you from that first word, that first sentence to its last. It’s that book that sucks you in so much that everything else that is going on around you seems to disappear. I want to share those books that do just that. Books are my escape into that alternate world of reality. I’m an HEA girl. I mostly want those ‘happily ever afters’ whether its a feel good romance, to an exciting page-turning mystery, suspense-thriller. I also enjoy traveling back in time with the classics. Books are endless that can be read over and over again with a new experience each time. So let’s get started and find ‘that’ book to fall into.
