THE NIGHTENGALE

This was a magnificently written piece of historical fiction with truthful elements and recollections of World War II and a glimpse of the horror and terror brought on by Hitler and his regime. It tells a tale of two sisters and the life they lived full of angst, heartache, and love but most of all survival. This is a MUST read. A ‘must read’ when the words on the pages become blurry and distorted as you try to hold back the tears! 💕

THE GREAT ALONE by Kristin Hannah

I completely fell in love with this book. The characters were so real and had so much depth that I felt like I once knew them at one point in time in which we shared a part of each other’s worlds.  Their struggle wasn’t anything out of the ordinary, in fact I’m sure many could relate to the periods of times when the family was faced with periods of trials and tribulations and moments of peace and happiness.  It’s a roller coaster and you’re not sure which part is going to be the climb towards that ‘happily ever after’ or the fall to that something that’s just lurking under the surface ready to upheave whatever happiness they may have found.  You can’t help but feel the pain and struggles that each character is faced with and the vast love they have for one another. But is that vast love a gift? Or is it like an anchor pulling you down with the fear of never being able to reach the surface. And maybe it’s just about holding on to ‘hope’ for a better tomorrow and a better ...
